In our canteens and cafeterias you pay comfortably cashless with your student/employee ID or with our CashCard for guests.

 

The credit on your card is no longer sufficient or you are guest and don't own a CashCard? No problem! Simply pay by your EC card. Payment with cash is not possible.

Here's how it works

For students and University employees

Students and employees of the University of Duisburg-Essen, the Folkwang University of Arts and the Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences can use the payment function with their official ID card.

If the credit balance is no longer sufficient, payment by EC card is possible. For the charge of the discounted price, the ID card must still be presented.

Note for guests
Students from other universities and university members without ID must purchase a CashCard or pay by EC card (see "for guests of the University"). In order to benefit from a discounted rate, we need proof from you.

You can easily top up the chip cards with cash or girocards with 5, 10, 20 or a maximum of 50 € at the rechargers in the respective canteen foyers.

No time to recharge? Simply use your EC card at the cash desk. To benefit from the reduced rate, we still need your student or employee ID.

 

With us you can only make cashless payments. At the cash desks in canteens and cafeterias you will find a card reader on which you can simply place your chip card; thereby the price of the meal is deducted from the card according to your status (students/University employees/guests).

The cash register display shows the credit balance on your ID card and the remaining credit balance after the purchase.

Payment by EC card
Your credit is no longer sufficient? Simply use your EC card for payment. Important: To benefit from the reduced rate, we still need your student or employee ID.

 

You have received a new card and there is still credit on your old one? You are leaving the university and you still have some credit left on your card? We will gladly transfer your credit or pay the remaining credit out to you. Please contact the CashCard service with your request. You will find the contact details and service times at the bottom of this page.

Please note that the payment of remaining credit for students is only possible in the case of exmatriculation. Claims for payment must be made within three months of the date of exmatriculation, otherwise they are expired. Students must present a certificate of exmatriculation for payout.

 

 

 

If your student/employee ID card is lost or damaged, please contact the Registrar's Office of your university.

You will find the regulations on the data protection of your student/employee ID on the pages of your university.

For guests of the University

With us you can only make cashless payments. There are two possibilities:

CashCard
If you already have a CashCard, you can place it on the reader at the cash desk. If you do not have sufficient funds on your account, simply use your EC card.

EC card
You don't have a CashCard for guests? Simply use your EC card at the cash desk. Please note: In order to benefit from a discounted rate, we need proof from you.

Loss
We can block the card if you can provide your card number, so that no unauthorized person can use your amount. Please contact the CashCard service for this. The deposit of 5,00 € and your credit cannot be refunded for the lost CashCard.

Defect
Your CashCard is defective? Please contact the CashCard service for a payout of your remaining balance. Depending on the cause of the defect, you may also receive the deposit amount of the CashCard back.

Guests without a CashCard simply use their EC card to pay in our cafeterias and canteens.

No personal data is stored on the card chip. We can only see the amount of credit and transacted amounts. No connection can be established between card number and cardholder.

CashCards are not allowed to be passed on to third parties.
