How can I contact STUDIERENDENWERK?
Due to current developments, no personal consultation will take place on site. The Reckhammerweg 1 is generally closed for visitors.
However, you can still reach us by telephone und email during office hours. Documents can be deposited in the mailbox there.
Are the canteens and cafeterias on campus open?
Two of our canteens and three cafeterias are open.

Canteen on Campus Mülheim serves as study room
On campus Mülheim, the canteen is open as a study room. Students of the Hochschule Ruhr West can book a workplace online. Further information can be found here. The gastronomic facilities will remain closed until further notice.
Transfer or pay out of card credit

What about the events of STUDIERENDENWERK?
Apart from our nutrition workshops all events on site are cancelled for an indefinite period of time.
What do you have to pay attention to as a resident of our dormitories?
House rules, precautions, payment problems - we have compiled all important informations for our tenants: Residences and Corona. Future tenants from abroad also receive important information on topics such as quarantine and cancellation.
Are there any changes concerning BAföG?
The extension of the standard period of study may be accompanied by the increase of the maximum BAföG funding period. Who is affected by this extension, read here.
A new regulation supports all those entitled to BAföG who are working in systemically important professions: The income is not considered, so that the financial support by means of BAföG remains in full.
What financial aid is available for students who are in need due to the pandemic?
Temporarily interest-free KfW student loan
From 01.05.2020 to 31.03.2021 the interest on the KfW Student Loan will be waived. This regulation to ease the burden on students applies to both new and existing loans. All details on the interest-free KfW loan can be found here.
Federal financial bridging aid
The Federal Ministry of Education and Research provided resources for financial bridging aid to the Studenten- und Studierendenwerke. This non-repayable grant is intended to support students in acute emergencies. Support could be applied for the months June, July, August and September. All details: Federal financial bridging aid
Does your child go to one of our daycare centres or daycare facilities?
Since 17.08.2020 the day-care facilities are in regular operation. However, regular childcare is carried out under reserve. Should developments or findings give cause for this, short-term restrictions are possible at any time.
