How can I contact STUDIERENDENWERK?
Due to current developments, no personal consultation will take place on site. The Reckhammerweg 1 is generally closed for visitors.
However, you can still reach us by telephone und email during office hours. Documents can be deposited in the mailbox there.
Social and psychological consultations also take place in the form of video consultations, in addition to e-mail and telephone contact.
Are the canteens and cafeterias on campus open?
No. Our facilities will be closed until at least and including 31.01.2021.
Canteen on Campus Mülheim serves as study room
On campus Mülheim, the canteen is open as a study room. Students of the Hochschule Ruhr West can book a workplace online. Further information can be found here.
Transfer or pay out of card credit
Would you like to transfer your card credit from an old card to a new one? Or do you want your remaining card credit to be paid out due to your removal from the register of students? Further information und contact details: Cashless payment
What about the events of STUDIERENDENWERK?
All events on site are cancelled for an indefinite period of time. A digital meeting place was created for the language café Café-Lingua. The exchange takes place via Zoom. Further details: www.stw-edu.de/en/culture/cafe-lingua
What do you have to pay attention to as a resident of our dormitories?
House rules, precautions, payment problems - we have compiled all important informations for our tenants: Residences and Corona. Future tenants from abroad also receive important information on topics such as quarantine and cancellation.
Are there any changes concerning BAföG?
The renewed extension of the standard period of study is accompanied by the increase of the maximum BAföG funding period. Read all details here.
A new regulation supports all those entitled to BAföG who are working in systemically important professions: The income is not considered, so that the financial support by means of BAföG remains in full.
What financial aid is available for students who are in need due to the pandemic?
Temporarily interest-free KfW student loan
Until 31.12.2021 the interest on the KfW Student Loan will be waived (paying out). This regulation to ease the burden on students applies to both new and existing loans. All details on the interest-free KfW loan can be found here.
Federal financial bridging aid
The Federal Ministry of Education and Research provides resources for financial bridging aid to the Studenten- und Studierendenwerke. This non-repayable grant is intended to support students in acute emergencies. The support was extended until March 2021. Further information: Bridging aid
Does your child go to one of our daycare centres or daycare facilities?
The child care centres and day care centres are open, but in limited pandemic operation. Since11.01.2021, the amount of care in childcare centres is generally reduced by ten hours per week for each child.
Due to the lockdown, all parents are encouraged to bring children into care only when absolutely necessary.
